How you can help:
  • Check sixthgradeeastblock.blogspot.com and your child’s assignment book daily!
  • Help your child find a quiet, well-lit place to do schoolwork.
  • Work with your child to create his/her own organizational system.
  • Talk with your child about the connection between mathematics and the real world.
  • Help your child with time management.
  • Encourage your child to seek help when needed.  I am available before school, during class, during support period and/or after school.
  • Read the book Mindset, by Carol Dweck. (Particularly Chapter 7)
  • When your child struggles with homework, stress that they try something.  They can refer to their in-class work where they solved similar problems and/or call a peer. Bottom line…try something and then come to class ready to ask questions and learn.
